Matthew wants to name him "Snake" after one of his favorite characters on Smash Brothers.

And no, I'm not sad it's another boy.  You wouldn't believe how many people have asked me that or say, "You'll get your girl one day."  What if I don't have a girl waiting to join our family?  That's okay with me.  I love my boys and I'll take another.  

Old MacDonald had a farm...

On Friday Matthew's preschool class went on a field trip to a dairy farm.  They got to drink whatever flavored milk they wanted.  Matthew chose strawberry.  Note the pink mustache.

James loved this big tire and just leaned against while all the kids ran through the hay maze.

They got to feed horses and goats.  I wasn't sure what Matthew would do, but he loved it.

And so brave, he held a rooster.  And it didn't peck him once.  For sure it would have if I held it. 

Matthew's favorite part was the hayride.  We got to see a calf that had been born that morning. She was so cute.

And he is so cute!

And we finished up the trip with some ice cream made from the milk of the farm's brown cows.  Brown cows make the best milk for ice cream and butter.  Their milk is creamier.  Didn't know that.

A very successful day.

Spring Fling '09

Alright ladies, for those of the Bosley persuasion (by blood or marriage), it's that time of year!  Spring Fling is exactly one month away!  I am giddy with excitement.  Can't wait.  And this year I won't have my kids.  I love those boys, but I am ready for some girl time.  Too much testosterone around here.    

Okay, so I got word a few of you were a little concerned about the details.  No worries!  I reserved the house back in October, and made the down payment in November.  Now if some of you have visited the house's site and checked out the availability calendar, it does say that the house is available for March 26-29.  This is ONLY because they hardly ever update their calendar.  I even called just to make sure.  We are booked and ready to go!  

Anyway, here is some info on our fabulous vacation spot.  The house is located in a gated community, very fancy.  But for some reason I was informed that we are to avoid using the front gate at ALL costs.  I thought this was funny, but whatever.  Anyway, the house sleeps 12 people, but we can have as many as there is floor and couch space for.  Isn't that how we do everything anyway?  Who needs to sleep comfortably when we've got stories to tell and food to eat?  Comfortable sleeping is for wimps.    

As you can see we have a pool and there is also a hot tub.  No one to steal our chairs!  The pool is heated, just in case it's a bit chilly.  The house has 5 bedrooms (2 master suites) and a bathroom for each bedroom, plus one extra.  The house is 5,246 square feet.  Plenty of floor space for air mattresses.  The kitchen is fully stocked.  You know, for all those meals we prepare.  Right.

I am just so excited, I can barely stand it.  Did I mention I will be sans kids?  Now the house is $399.00 a night, plus $150.00 cleaning fee which is non-refundable.  So the total comes to $1347.00 plus tax.  So if we have 21 (just an estimate) adults, that comes to about $64.00 plus whatever tax will be a person.    

Check in time is at 4:00 pm and checkout time is 12:00 pm.  I just need to call a few days before we check in and someone will meet us with a key.  But whatever you do, do not enter through the front gate.  There could be frightening consequences.  Or they just direct you to another gate.  

As you can see, it is fully furnished, and fancy at that.  I do have to say that I will miss that sunflower monstrosity from last year.  

Awwww, the pool and hot tub.  And look at those chaise lounge chairs with no towels reserving them for the entire day. 

So hopefully, this puts your concerns to rest.  This will be a great stay and I've got it all under control.  With no kids. 

 

Be Mine and Other News...

So I haven't been around for a while, but I'm going to try to return to my old blogging self.  So let's catch up on a few things.  I'm pregnant.  Yeah!!  I was going to find some cute way to announce this tidbit, but oh well.  There you go.  I think my due date is around August 21.  I say "think" because I haven't been to the doctor yet.  So I will keep you updated on this.  

Matthew had a Valentine's Day party today and came home with tons of cards and candy.  He was very excited about his haul.  

There is a cute little girl in his class named, Maggie.  Apparently, she often asks Matthew to be her boyfriend.  But not ready to move out of our house and in with her, he turns her down.  I need to stress that we don't live with boyfriends and girlfriends.  I'll save that for a future discussion.  He does say when he's older, Maggie will be his girlfriend.

Two peas in a pod...sometimes

A few days after Christmas we headed out to my parents' house in Alabama.  We had such a good time.  Obviously, I was most excited about seeing my newest niece, Holly.  Who is a gorgeous, happy baby.  But what was really fun, was seeing how James and Laney got along...or didn't.  It was really one way or the other for them.  But I have so many cute pictures of them together.  I had to share.

This is at a park down by a river near my parents' house.

Almost a nightly activity, sink baths.  Whenever anyone was at the kitchen sink,  these two came running around the corner.  Delaney was trying to take off her clothes and James would say, "Bath?  Bath?  Bath?"

They loved playing on the stairs.  Fun for them, a little scary at times for us.

My mom got the kids some really cute bubble wands.  We took them outside to play with them, these two preferred the marshmallows.

They looked out the windows a lot.  I'm not sure what they were looking for, but it was interesting.

It was so fun to watch them together.  Delaney is used to having my mom all to herself, so this was a major adjustment for her.  She was a little jealous (that's an understatement).  James was okay with all the attention she was taking from him, until one day he snapped.  He was done.  Grandma was his, too.  And they fought over her literally every second of the day.

Christmas morning...

Christmas snuck up on me this year.  It came way too fast.  But here are a few pics.  

Did you know that if you do not have a chimney, Santa uses his magic and makes one appear in your house.  This way he can get in and out without ringing the doorbell.  (Thanks to "The Santa Clause" for teaching us that).  And look, he left foot prints again.

Tim got Madden football for the Wii.  All the boys loved playing it.  James just kept repeating over and over, "foo-bawl" and pointing to the TV.  What a cutie.  And I'm not sure if you knew this, but playing Wii is apparently hazardous, check out Tim's head wear.

My parents got James this b-ball hoop and he loves it.  He plays basketball everyday, no exaggeration.  

The only thing Matthew wanted for Christmas was a car or motorcycle.  He wanted nothing else.  Luckily, Santa came through and delivered.  At the same moment Matthew saw the jeep, he saw a bottle of bubble bath by his stocking.  He promptly ran to the bubble bath and scooped it up and studied it.  "How did Santa know I like bubble baths?"  he asked gleefully.  Uh yeah, bubble bath, great.  Did you notice the car parked right next to it?  Who knew how simple Christmas could have been?!

Vroom vroom.  Unfortunately, it rained all Christmas day.  But the next day we got to take his sweet ride out for a test drive.  I even tried it out.  So much fun and he loves it.

It's Almost Christmas!

Yesterday we went to the Nutcracker at the Mesa Art Center.  The boys loved it.  Matthew's favorite part was when the rats fought the toy soldiers.  Cute little Ruby Hughes was a sassy little mouse in the ballet and did a great job.  That's her just behind Cannon.  Afterwards, we had the Hughes, Wrights and Ted and Martha over for an almost Christmas dinner.  The biggest hit?  The chocolate fountain.  By the end of the night, the kids were covered in chocolate.

James actually preferred whole strawberries, but took his chocolate on the side.

This was our kitchen afterwards.  The picture does not do it justice.  There was chocolate on every surface, including the floor (which was a bummer because my mop literally broke just as we were about to mop, so we were on our hands and knees scrubbing).  It took us 2 hours to clean up.  Of course, the mess was worth having family visit.  And we're just glad we have a big enough house to have everyone over.

When Matthew was supposed to be in bed, he was helping us "clean up" the chocolate.  He was in heaven.  

Car Crashes and Knee Pads

Today Matthew had a Christmas party at school and got to wear his pajamas to class.  He got a big kick out of that.  This morning on the way to school we were listening to Christmas music and "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" was playing (probably my least favorite holiday song)  and when the song was over Matthew said, "I wish something was wrong with our car and we would crash into other cars."  Perplexed and a little disturbed, I asked, "Why would you want something like that to happen?"  "Because then somebody would write a song about it," he so matter-of-factly replied.  "Oh, like the song about the grandma being run over?"  I asked, a little relieved.  "Yeah, like that."

James will NOT stay in his blankets at night, and although we live in Arizona, it does get cold at night.  So I bought him some pajamas with the feet on them.  He absolutely loves them.  Like my mom put it, they have built in shoes.  What's not to love?  

He has also developed another fashion trend, knee pads on his arms.  He wears them around all day and I seriously think he believes they make him tougher.  

Have a Holly, Jolly Christmas

Lindsey and Adam have named their new little girl Holly Francis Mallory.  She was 7 lbs 5 oz. and 20 inches long.  Holly is peerfect for a December baby's name and Francis is my Grandma Huff's maiden name.  I hear she is very tiny and has a very cute nose.  My mom also says she is very aware of her surroundings and takes everything in.

She's almost here...

I have some SUPER exciting news, Lindsey's baby is joining the cute, little Mallory clan today!  I can barely wait to catch a glimpse of her.  I hate being so far away, it's times like these that make it the hardest to live away from family.  I'll keep you updated and put pictures up as soon I receive some.  

*Update*  She is here!  She was born around 10:08 pm and is a beautiful little girl!  I can't wait to meet her.
